Things May Slow Down

I just wanted to give a quick update about my life. I am working as a Chaplain in the WakeMed CPE program in Raleigh, NC. I've been really looking forward to this experience for many reasons.

1) I want a positive ministry experience after the the negative ch. experiences I have had.
2) I want to be able to do ministry that is authentic, both in the sense that the people I am talking with can be real with me (Not HAVING to use fluffy/churchy language about faith, God, life, etc..., but the reality of each person's situation), and I can be authentic with them (not representing any church's theology, or even ness. my own theology, but working with people where they are!)! Coincidentally, I find it ironic that I've always tried to focus on relational ministry, which requires people to be authentic with me, and although I try to be authentic with them, it is not encouraged in the churches I've had most of my experience with, causing me to be almost/sometimes hypocritical. That's a revelation I've had lately!
3) Most importantly, to explore more about who I am as an individual, as God's Child, and as a minister; as well as exploring my calling. This is interesting since the question of my calling is what began this blog at its inception.

So blog posts may slow down a little this summer. I will try to keep you updated with thoughts and perhaps what's going on, although it is hard since there is a lot I've already experienced that I'm legally bound not to share. But thoughts centering around my own growth and theology, and life in general I hope to post every so often. So although this may slow down, I'm not out of it yet. Just stick with me, pray for me, and keep an eye out...you never know when I'll pop back up:)

thanks
love
justin

  1. i didn't know you were studying CPE ... i had been wondering if i should be going in that direction. does wake's program take you across different faiths, as well as christianity? i worked as a volunteer at a hospice for a bit a couple of years back, and even applied for a part time role as chaplain (but didn't get it ... must have been the jethro-tull t-shirt...).

so are you just beginning the program, or are you to the point of some kind of internship? do you cover several hospitals, or just one?

good luck to you in the program. i'd like to hear how it goes and what you think about it.

just out of curiosity - how old are you?
